Styled Shoot at Savannah's Must-Visit Boutique
exploring fashion photography in Savannah — with a new camera in hand
As I think about industries and areas that I want to delve into deeper with my photography, the fashion industry is at the top of that list.
With that in mind, I recently carved out time for a personal project — a styled shoot using only Medium Format film. I wanted to stretch myself a little creatively and see what would unfold when I leaned into something that felt both exciting and a little intimidating.
Every photo from this session was captured on my Pentax 645n with Porta 160 film. Slower, more deliberate — and yet, you can clearly grasp the energy through the photos.
If you’re a Savannah local, you probably already know and love Hannah E. — and if not, let me introduce you to my favorite Savannah boutique. Hannah curates the most beautiful collection of clothing, shoes, accessories, and soon-to-be home pieces. She has such an effortless eye for style, and over time, she’s become not just a client, but a dear friend.
And modeling throughout the shoot is Evie Williams, who brought the exact effortless, elevated energy I was hoping for.

For Photographers: On Working with Models, Shooting Film, and the Power of Personal Projects
Working with models can completely reignite your creative spark. Models are often comfortable adapting to new spaces that once you set the tone and share your vision, a natural rhythm tends to take over. For this shoot, I wanted things to feel polished but never stiff — elevated, but with an easy kind of movement. I sent over the vibe and inspiration ahead of time, gave a little direction at the start, and then trusted Evie to bring her own magic into the frame, and of course she nailed it.
Shooting on film added another intricate layer to the process. I’ll be honest — it felt intimidating at first. Film demands more patience, more intentionality. But after a few rolls, it clicked (pun intended). These scans were developed by Nice Film Lab, who continue to be one of my favorite partners for film work.
Personal projects like this are what keep me creatively energized. They remind me why I landed in the photography industry in the first place. When things start to feel a little too routine, carving out time to experiment and play is the best reset I know.
This shoot was exactly that for me. There’s no better way to dive into fashion photography than this. Thanks again to Hannah for letting me capture her beautiful pieces!
